HELP! I DROPPED MY BRAND NEW CAMERA IN WATER!!!?

Hi, i left it in rice for about a day and a half. It had progressed from not turning on, to turning on but the screen is full of lines and colours and then it turns back off again? The thing is it was reaaally expensive camera from my dad for xmas, and he does'nt have much money so it was like a hugeeee deal. So please help? Any suggesntions about what to do to help the screen.

I have left it in rice in a zip lock bag (completely submurged) and put that in an almost airtight container then wrapped it in thermals in hope it would keep it warmish.

anything else i should do? help! btw it is a touchscreen.

wrap it in aluminum foil, and if tht dosnt work, srrry ur screwed

You need to leave it untouched in the rice for three days, and remove the battery first. If there is power surging through it, it will be ruined. It's probably too late now, but try it. Good luck. I'm really sorry. :(

What do you do with wet clothes? do the same with the camera, it's an old trick =) It really does work!

If not, go for a waterproof camera. That's why I got the Panasonic Lumix FT1 (In bright orange, of course!)

dont turn it on, take out the batteries, youll just have to let it dry just make sure theres no electric currents running through it...it might be too late since youve already turned iton, but miracles do happen...just relax let it be for a few days then check it goodluckk

Next camera that you buy to replace this, use the wrist strap.

You asked about this 2 days ago and now twice in an hour. Do you think time passing will change the answers?

Your camera is most likely deceased. Get over it, give it a decent burial and move on.

If your dad doesnt have the money looks like youll be without a camera. Maybe when you do get another youll take better care of it.

A small cheap strap, used properly with a camera, is better than a whole sack of rice.

But hey, I'm Filipino. Rice is fine by me.
