with the 450 you can get £30 cashback and it ends up being £519.99
with the 500 you can get £50 cashback and it ends up being £529.99
that makes a £10 difference
I study Architecture at university and I want to use it for the course aswell as my own person hobby and to make money out of photoshoots etc
should I consider the 1000d
it comes with a twin lense kit....but I have read reviews on the lense and apparently it doesnt measure up...but its what u get for the price
it costs £[URL Truncated]
Get the 500D
For £10 difference it's a no brainer
If your are going to be taking architechtural shots then you will more than likely need a wide angle zoom (and a tripod)
The best one for that camera is -
Canon 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 You pay a little more for it but it has much less distortion than other independent wide angle zoom lenses
I agree with the previous poster that the 500d is a better value for a minimal cost increase.
However, he/she is mistaken about the advantages. The 450 and 500d both have 3" LCD screens, and both Have Liveview. and both have the automatic sensor cleaning.
The advantages of the 500d include 1080p video, and extended ISO range to 12800. (450d goes to iso 1600)
Other than that, the 500d has the Q button, which provides quick configuration from the main view screen.
Still a no-brainer to go with the 500d
Very often I advise people to save the money, but in this case, but in this case it is a tough call. Below I provide a link to a web page that lists the 2 cameras side by side so that you can compare features and specs. Read the "conclusion" portion of the reviews on these cameras and dpreview rates the 450D's image quality a little higher than the 500D.
Here are the advantages I see by going with the 500D:
*More megapixels (500D 15MP and the 450D IS 12MP), while I think mega pixels is often an overrated spec weighed out when buying cameras, it does mean here that it will provide a larger high resolution (dpi) image file which can be a advantage in making bigger prints (sounds like a plus for Architecture photography to me).
*Higher ISOs available, 500D goes up to 3200 (6400-12800 expandable) while the 450D can only go up to 1600 ISO (this could be a very big advantage in low light situations).
*Ability to do HD video, the 500D can do this, the 450D can not, (you may or may not care about doing any video, even if you don't care it is an available option).

Hope I have helped some and not just confused you. Either camera is excelletnt.
Good luck.
Mark
Well it's £30 extra for the 500D, or £20 extra for the 450D. So why not get the 500D, I mean the video function is handy and there really isn't anything you can get for £10 in the photographic world.
So what can market prices say you should get the 500D.
i would recommend to go with Canon EOS 500D Digital SLR Camera (incl. EF-S 18-55 mm IS Lens Kit)
